Military Hospital Olomouc – Farmyard

In the area of the Monastery Castle of the Military Hospital Olomouc, construction works were carried out on a historical building, the so-called Farm Yard. The building is registered in the State List of Immovable Cultural Monuments and is thus protected by Act No. 20/1987 Coll. on State Heritage Care.

After reconstruction, new medical facilities are used:
– Institute for Veterans with nursing beds – LDN
– Secondary prevention and addiction care centre in the ACR
– Chronic Resuscitation and Intensive Care Unit
The architectural expression of the facades in the courtyard honors the original articulation, including the retention of the main masses. All existing windows have been replaced with new, castellated windows with articulated sashes, stucco ornamentation, including window jambs, has been repaired and added, and the lime plaster has been lime colored. The profiled stone lining of the main entrances to the premises has been newly added with stucco replicas according to the preserved patterns. The new roof cladding is broken into the roof from the courtyard side by counter dormers, which are based on the motif of the contemporary counter-lighting dormers preserved in the archival photo documentation.

The courtyard in the main entrance area serves as a pedestrian zone for inpatients or residential clients, the layout allows for occasional operation of medical and other service vehicles. The surface of the rest area of the courtyard consists of stone paving surfaces, which will support the functional division into separate sections of the facility – stone slabs, living areas with benches – clay, main rest areas – lawn). The centre of the courtyard consists of a circular paved area with a gazebo that crosses the access walkways.
